10- Pokemon Omega Paradox
Pokemon Omega Paradox is the first and possibly most well known game in our list of the best Pokemon Nintendo DS ROM hacks. A month has passed since the masked man attacked, many were killed, some were badly injured. Many people are fleeing Unova while some have come to save it…
After the attack, many elite clans formed in Unova, consisting of powerful Team Rocket and Plasma Grunts, and Team Aqua regrouped in Unova to free Pokemon and allied with the Mask Man.
You survived the Mask Man’s attack and your friends Cynthia and Drake have returned to Unova to help you choose your first Pokemon. As one of the few people who can evolve Pokemon in Omega, you have a chance to get a starter Pokemon and stop the masked man.
The Masked Man leaves a scar on all his victims, which can be seen on the victims’ blackened faces, and you are destined to stop him.
Anything weird you see at the beginning, like Drayden as a professor, is explained later in the game, as is the masked man’s true identity.
9- Pokemon Platinum Pro
This is a hard blue hack using Pokemon Platinum Plus as the base rom (I have his permission). I will keep his documents below for Pokemon changes/evolutions and locations and I take no credit for the work he has done.
One of the great things that sets my hacks apart from other platinum hacks is the fact that trainers have more Pokemon and a consistent level curve, meaning you don’t have to level grind at all.
ALL Trainers and Gym Leaders have Pokemon that match their movesets based on their level, meaning you wouldn’t find a level 5 Rattata with Aeroblast, Holy Fire, EQ, or Draco Meteor.
Also, some Pokemon (at the 40+ levels) have TM, HM, and Event moves, so don’t complain if you see a torchlit Entei because it learned that via a Gen 4 Event, as Pokemon Platinum the new one game was. You can also check Pokemon DB before complaining.
This is a ROM hack that should definitely find its way into your Downloads folder.
8- Pokemon Altered Platinum
Pokemon Altered Platinum is a platinum hack that makes radical changes to the way the game works for the sake of fun and a fresh Sinnoh experience.
Meet 30 new Sinnohan forms (don’t rush, I’ve just been working on this for far too long), each with a unique design, type, stats, and more!
Play with old Pokémon that have been modified so extensively that they look brand new, and get used to an overall higher standard of performance where almost everything should be usable.
The Ice type has seen some major changes, removing its weakness to Rock and adding new resistances to Water, Ground, and Dragon.
While the challenge isn’t quite as high as Kaizo, it’s definitely harder than Renegade Platinum. By getting rid of the effort stats, you’re limited to about the same level of performance as the NPC trainers (who can’t use EVs either), and you don’t have to grind EVs for hours!
Gym leaders are no longer limited to types! Instead, their teams focus on a specific gimmick, such as Roark’s stealth rock team.
Play with some new moves with (quasi) custom animations, like the low power physical fairy move “Roughhouse” or the physical flight move “Meteor Dive” with 100% accuracy, 90 power and no effects! Some are even signature moves, like Skarmory’s Steel Feathers or (SPOILER)’s Cosmic Void.
Find newly colored Shiny Pokémon, like an Autumnal Leafeon or a Cherry Blossom-colored Torterra, including Renegade’s 1/512 Shine Rate!
Some NPC dialogue that didn’t contribute to the story has been replaced (not all yet). This includes new jokes and innuendos, but also some additional information for the new Sinnohan forms to really make them feel at home in this all-new Sinnoh! Each new form even includes new Pokédex entries!
What’s more, there’s even a familiar face as a new post-game boss trainer to match the fight against Steven Stone from Renegade Platinum. More information can be found in the spoiler screenshots!
Note: This is my very first romhack and I released it in beta because I kept losing interest during my playtesting sessions. I figured it would be better to do at least some sort of release than leave it on my hard drive for possibly another three years.
Currently the hack is balanced and optimized to the credits and the postgame should be free of bugs as I tested it with a special postgame test save.

It’s the best of both worlds if you love both red and heart gold. It was supposed to be a Soul Blue but that’s not available for now.

The game has pretty much the same storyline as Pokemon Platinum. There are no changes in the storyline. The only difference is that some characters and trainers have changed, but the story remains the same.
The list of Pokemon is more extensive and includes all Pokemon up to Generation VI. Fairy guy is also included in the game. All Pokemon in Renegade Platinum have their types and stats updated through Generation VI.
This means that any Pokemon that recently gained a second type or the Fairy type will also have that in play. This also means there are additional moves and several TMs have been changed and updated. Pokemon evolutions can be done quickly in the game as the level requirements have been lowered.
There’s also no longer a need to trade Pokemon to evolve them, which is always a good idea. Various item prices have been reduced. Also, new items have been added to the game that can serve as evolution catalysts or just be used. The placement of items in the game has also been changed, but not all.
As you advance in the story, there are still important items you can get from the same people, but others have been changed.
The battles with the special trainers and the heads of the gyms have become a bit more difficult. It’s not so hard that the game is awful, but it’s more challenging and more fun. There are also changes to some NPCs and Pokemon spawn locations. Considering that there are more Pokemon, several have been added in some areas when playing Pokemon Renegade Platinum.
